The Delighted Gossip

Spurs keen on Willian & Damiao, not Henry but maybe Lopez for Arsenal, Sturridge deal close, no Ince move and...

SPURS KEEN ON BRAZIL DUO
Andre Villas-Boas suggested that Spurs wouldn't be doing much business in January after their win over Reading, but then there's this he had to say on a couple of Brazilians. Specifically Willian and Leandro Damiao.

"We got in touch with Willian [in the summer] and he is one of the players that interests us," he said.

"I like his style, but we could not reach the value Shakhtar were asking. It does not mean we won't try again.

"Shakhtar are a difficult club to negotiate with as they do not need the money and can keep their players.

"For Damiao, he had a spectacular Olympics. We follow the best players and youngsters. Leandro fits this profile.

"He has had injuries after London 2012, but he is a player that is always on our list."

NO HENRY MOVE
We thought he'd denied this a couple of times already, but Arsene Wenger confirmed on Tuesday that Arsenal would not be signing Thierry Henry for a third time.

He said: "He is not ready, he has just come back from holiday anyway. At the moment we are not on that case."

Probably for the best.

BUT ARE THEY IN FOR LOPEZ...?
One man who could be signing for Arsenal is Atletico Madrid striker Adrian Lopez.

The Daily Mirror reports that Arsene Wenger has asked about the forward, but perhaps predictably enough doesn't want to pay full whack - his £14million release clause.

The paper claims: 'Although he is a full Spain international, 24-year-old Lopez is only a bit-part player for Atletico and could be allowed to go in January, but Arsenal are reluctant to trigger the clause as they try to work out whether a deal can be done.

'Wenger's scouting network have repeatedly watched Lopez and Atletico may choose to part with him rather than superstar Colombian hitman Radamel Falcao as they seek to offset financial problems at the club.'

STURRIDGE DEAL CLOSE
Quick line from The Daily Mirror, who report something we probably all knew/assumed was going to happen - Daniel Sturridge's move to Liverpool is close to completion.

The fee is £12million, and should be finalised sharpish, although not in time for him to play against Sunderland on Wednesday evening.

He will be at the game though, and could be available to make his debut in the FA Cup game against Mansfield at the weekend.

BUT NOT INCE
The other player everyone assumed would be arriving at Anfield is Thomas Ince, but apparently there are no further movements on that front.

"We have not heard anything since an initial Liverpool approach a couple of weeks ago," said Blackpool boss Michael Appleton.

"As far as I am aware Thomas will have a day off tomorrow (Wednesday) like everyone else and come back to prepare for the next game with us."

So there you go.

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool want to send Nuri Sahin back to Real Madrid in order to free some wages for Sturridge and Ince, while potential loan target Kevin Gameiro doesn't want to leave PSG.

STRIKERS FOR THE TOON?
Couple of quick lines on Newcastle, and specifically who will replace Demba Ba, should he leave in January.

The Daily Mail claims they will move for West Ham striker Modibo Maiga if a proposed deal for Marseilles's Loic Remy fails to go through.

Meanwhile, The Sun reckons they are keen on Peter Odemwingie and will make a £3million bid.
