Chelsea Sign Newcastle United Striker Demba Ba: Forward Signs Three & Half Year Contract

Ba Contract
St James’ Park forward agrees personal terms with Stamford Bridge side.
Newcastle striker Demba Ba has agreed to join Chelsea on a three-and-a-half-year contract, Sky Sports sources understand.
The Senegal international is undergoing a medical with Rafa Benitez’s side after a release clause was triggered in his Newcastle contract once Chelsea offered £7million for him.
Ba was left out of the Magpies’ squad for their 2-1 home defeat to Everton on Wednesday, with manager Alan Pardew admitting afterwards that he was on his way to Stamford Bridge.

Barring a medical mishap Demba Ba is Chelsea bound. A three and a half year deal seems reasonable as this will bring the Senegal international up into 30s at which point the Stamford Bridge side can opt to either offer their traditional one year rolling contract, which the Blues adopt for veteran players, or elect to allow the striker to leave on a free transfer.
Newcastle United must begin the hunt to sign a viable replacement for their top-scorer and have already been linked with West Ham forward Modibo Maiga and Marseille’s Loic Remy.
Demba Ba is a proven Premier League marksman and a player who seemed very keen to use Newcastle United as a stepping stone much as he did with West Ham previously and now the powerful forward gets to ply his trade with one of Europe’s ‘Elite’ and will hope that he can help the Blues to secure major honours and perhaps a first taste of Champions League football next term.
Ba netted seven goals in 12 with West Ham before he left on a free transfer due to a release clause that was triggered when the Hammers were relegated. The French born forward then scored 16 goals in his first season at Newcastle United and has managed 13 goals already this season.
